Section 1: CEO Statement Through decades of change, Ben & Jerry’s has never wavered from its founding principles of helping to make the world a better place, and employees have made it their business to integrate progressive programs into our day-to-day operations. Clearly, this kind of decision making resonates with our customers - people who understand and appreciate the significant social benefit that comes with values-led behavior. And it resonates with me as an individual. As I’ve often stated, it is an integral part of my life experience and it remains the most compelling reason for accepting the CEO position at Ben & Jerry’s. Going forward, it is my intent not only to continue Ben & Jerry’s legacy of values-led business, but also to raise the bar for a new generation of consumers who will have heightened expectations for the companies with whom they do business. Although I was not at the company during the period of time examined in this report, I am strongly committed to the three-part mission of Ben & Jerry’s which focuses on our Product, Economic, and Social Missions. I am pleased, therefore, to provide this introduction to our most recent CERES Report. Yves Couette |
